Energy Transfer Efficiency
A key aspect is the efficient transfer of energy between body segments. This might seem intimidating at first, but it's essential for optimal performance.
It means that your body is not breaking the chain of energy as it performs movements. Terms like being 'connected' or 'core connectivity' come to mind.
When all of the needed muscles are firing at the right time, the body is 'connected'. Most athletes have muscles that do not fire, which limits their coordination and ability to transfer energy effectively.
What this means to coaches and athletes:
Coaches should incorporate exercises that promote kinetic chain awareness and efficiency.
For athletes, it’s important to understand your body’s mechanics. Focus on exercises that target the muscles in the athlete that are not firing (not working properly). If they do not fix those, they will never make the energy transfer.
This will help in maximizing the energy transfer during performance.
